Last Christmas my mother was invited by our local Parish church to sponsor one of the anticipated Christmas masses for our barangay. This is a community service offered by the parish to our parishioners who for reasons of work, distance or security, cannot attend the traditional early morning masses at the main church.
We gladly accepted the offer, thinking that many of our neighbors along the highway would indeed appreciated the anticipated masses near their homes.
We went into a flurry of preparations, hurriedly putting up christmas decor in our newly renovated garage (thank god we had it fixed before christmas!), printing announcement banners and flyers for the folks around our community and renting chairs for the masses. The star of our make shift altar was the home-made belen that the sinag staff (the talented Mr. Marlon Borlagdan mainly) made for the Simbang Gabi. It is beautiful!
We put up stars and garlands of christmas lights and it really felt like christmas in Sinag. A christmas like no other we have ever had.
It was a tiring endeavor but it was all worth it. We're all actually looking forward to next Christmas and hopefully, another round of christmas masses in Sinag. This was a perfect end to an unforgettable year for Sinag.
Thanks to everybody and Happy New Year to all!
